We camped at Rondeberg Holiday Resort on June of 2015 on our way to Namibia. We decided to leave Cape Town a day before the official commencement of the winter school holidays and camped here for three nights. By staying at the resort, we missed most of the traffic of holiday makers heading for the Namibian border, and when we left, the roads were clear and the border post was relatively quiet.
We were very fortunate to have secured one of the sites on the water's edge. The site is large and is literally on the edge of the dam. The children had a wonderful time splashing in the water and paddling on the kayaks. The water was a bit on the cold side, seeing as it was winter, so we also did not make use of the swimming pool. The kids also had a wonderful time exploring the play area. We took a walk along the back of the resort and marveled at the beautiful views. There was even some abandoned earth moving equipment and the kids had fun exploring the diggers, tractors and bulldozers. The bird life at the resort is very abundant and we had many a morning visitor checking for crumbs from the previous night's supper. We were also visited by a family of ducks, who decided that our site was just a perfect location to hang out for the morning.
The owners of the resort were very approachable and accommodating. There was always a smile and a warm greeting when we entered the reception area or visited the shop.
All in all, we had a wonderful time at the resort and have made lovely memories. We camped here in winter and the resort was relatively quiet. I can imagine that this resort can get very busy during high season. It is definitely on my t-do list to return to this resort again.
